What does Ascendants mean in the book?
The Ascendants are Peter, Janet, Jack, Julie, George and Cody. They are a group of friends with unusual powers and sharply different strengths. In Chapter One, they meet at the entrance to the Preditorium after the high jump at the Paris Luminatics.
This guide stays close to the opening of the story, so it gives new readers a way in without explaining later discoveries.

Jack and Julie
Jack uses music from his DJ laptop to influence people. Julie can summon water, but she needs to stay hydrated and cannot control large bodies of water.
George and Cody
George uses disguise and illusion to confuse enemies. Cody can absorb and redirect powerful energy, helping protect the group.
Why the team matters
No one Ascendant has every answer. The story begins with teamwork: different abilities, different limits and friends who must decide how to protect one another when the ordinary world stops feeling ordinary.
